Jackson Concrete
Old Software:
Jackson Concrete's software was so old it barely
worked. In many ways the accounting software was a glorified
word processor.
Problem:
The concrete business runs on offering unique prices
to every customer based on volume and ingredients in
the concrete. Pricing on the aggregates going into the
concrete change frequently and each price, for each
job, and each aggregate had to be tracked by hand. Each
of those costs had to be run against numerous discount
schedules creating a customized bill for every single
order. The current software did not support having discount
schedules built into each customer type, so the client
often lost money by having to discount other products
that the client was not qualified for if they appeared
on the invoice.
Time and Labor at Stake:
It took at least 12 consecutive hours, along with
numerous computer crashes and the owner of the company
going line by line through hundreds of invoices in order
to do billing once a month. The billing had to be done
on a specific day keeping BJ, the owner of the business
from going on vacations let alone making it home for
dinner. End of the year reporting kept the owner away
from holiday gatherings too. He could never delegate
the billing to any other staff because his own brain
memory was in charge of keeping track of the many discount
codes.

pricing structure that feeds off of a standard price.
Pricing on each ticket is calculated by the system,
so the billing goes out much quicker. It no longer has
to wait for the end of the month. Instead billing can
now go out on an ongoing basis. With speedier invoicing
everyone gets paid sooner.
Servicing the Customer Better:
Jackson Concrete now has an effective pricing matrix
so that every customer gets their customized price without
manual intervention. BJ doesn't sell concrete
to homeowners, he sells to contractors. It is critical
that his contractor customers can quickly bill their
customers. With Jackson Concrete's new pricing
schedules they know in advance what their cost will
be and can now confidently bill at their own schedule.
This increases cash flow for everyone.BJ's accounting
fees have gone down too. In fact, he is using the money
he saved to go on regular vacations. Now that invoicing
takes just a few hours he makes it home for dinner too.
